The old adage, ‘Do what you love, and you will never work a day in your life.’, rings true to me in my role here at Brightworks. As Vice President, Finance, I spend my days collecting data that reveal the true state of our business. I then formulate recommendations that will fix problems and drive long-term growth and profitability. As an extension of these activities, I also oversee Brightworks’ Finance department, and lead Brightworks’ annual and quarterly business planning. When I’m not crunching numbers, you can find me immersed in client contracts or corporate matters like insurance and software automation.
Warren Buffett once said, ‘take the job you would take if you were independently wealthy. You’re going to do well with it.’ For me, Brightworks is that job. What makes my days at Brightworks so enjoyable are the people. The group here is made up of thoughtful, dedicated and highly intelligent individuals with a wide breadth of skills, talents and ambitions that gel really well together. With such a great culture, it’s very easy to spend my days here.
Outside of work, I am blessed with a wonderful family—my wife Juan and daughter Sarah. We spend much of our time in nature—hiking, golfing and skiing up north in Muskoka and the Kawarthas, and also out west in Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Montana and Idaho.
